The Paget’s Association awards Centre of Excellence status to NHS hospital departments recognised for their expertise in managing Paget’s Disease of Bone and their contribution to research into the condition. Where appropriate, the award is made jointly to a hospital and university. The UK centres recognised by the Paget’s Association as Centres of Excellence are listed below.

Currently led by Professor Terence O’Neill, the Paget’s disease service in Salford, Greater Manchester, was established in the early 1980s by Professor David Anderson. This Centre of Excellence is and based within the Department of Rheumatology.

Southampton

Professors Nicholas Harvey and Elaine Dennison manage the Southampton Centre of Excellence. The Metabolic Bone Service provides services for the diagnosis, investigation and management of bone conditions including Paget’s Disease. The service is closely connected with a programme of research at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre at the University of Southampton.
